Maris Aylward teaches yoga as a way to fulfill her deepest passions: connecting with people and cultivating meaningful relationships.
Her mission is “to help students nurture their body, mind, and spirit by clearly and compassionately guiding them through a yoga practice that is skillful, intelligent, and enjoyable.” She believes yoga is a beneficial physical activity that also supports one’s personal growth and emotional well-being. Students find her mindful yoga flow both challenging and relaxing; and they appreciate the clarity and simplicity of her precise instructions. In her classes, Maris provides a peaceful space and a welcoming environment where all levels of yogis can work at the pace and intensity that is right for them.
Her yoga journey began in 2003 when she took her first yoga class and fell in love with the practice. Upon moving to the U.S. in 2010, Maris completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at KC Fitness Link as well as Yoga Fit Levels 1 and 2. Since then, she has continued honing her skills through more trainings in Core Strength Vinyasa, Yin Yoga, Yoga Anatomy, Meditation, and many others. In 2015, she launched Yoga Upload, a YouTube channel with hundreds of free yoga videos and tutorials. Her online classes have reached thousands of yogis all over the world.
Maris is originally from the Philippines where she worked as a professional actress for television, film, and theater. Here in Kansas City, she co-hosted a local TV show for three years. She still works as a commercial and print model when the opportunity arises. When she’s not teaching, Maris is enjoying life and traveling the world with her husband Dave and their son Kieran and her new baby boy born in January 2019.
