Friday April 12- Sunday April 14, 2019 @ Westport Yoga KC

The three-pronged approach of lecture, experiential learning and practicum teaching is ideal for yoga teachers to truly hone the art of teaching.

This training includes anatomy of the fascia, exploration of Yin qualities of a yoga practice and sequencing to balance the energies associated with Traditional Chinese Medicine Meridian Lines. We’ll discuss new research on fascial health and learn how to safely and effectively teach Yin Yoga in group classes at all levels.

We will also discuss the benefits of pranayama to induce the Relaxation Response and positively affect the health of our connective tissues.

This course is ideal for Yoga Teachers, physical therapists, massage therapists and other healing professionals.

Assistant Teachers: Sedona Alvarez, RYT-200 Yoga Teacher and Megan Hettich, Yoga Teacher and TCM Practitioner

  • Friday April 12: 4 pm- 8 pm

  • Saturday April 13: 12 pm- 6 pm

  • Sunday April 14: 12 pm- 8 pm

  • 2 additional Observation Hours of Yin Yoga Classes

  • 2 additional Practicum Hours Assisting Yin Yoga Classes at Westport Yoga KC

  • Additional assignments as needed; Options included for out of town teachers.

  • Provided Texts: The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga by Dr. Bernie Clark and Yin Yoga and Fascial Health Teacher Training Manual by Lisa Ash Drackert

  • Provided: Snacks, Fresh Juice, Hot Tea, a take-home bottle of essential oil and access to Audio Guided Meditations

We will learn how to:

  • teach systematic relaxation techniques to balance the nervous system and calm the mind

  • explain the physiology of fascia

  • hydrate and heal connective tissue

  • restore range of motion to joints through yin yoga and Self Myofascial Release techniques

  • teach pranayama to beginners

  • structure a 60-75 minute Yin Yoga Class for all levels in relation to Traditional Chinese Medicine principles incorporate Yin Yoga Principles into yoga classes
