This 3-part series is a perfect introduction to Meditation. We will explore the modern-day benefits of meditation and how you can integrate the practice into your life to relieve stress.

In each session, Lisa Ash Drackert, M.Ed, RYT-500, will teach Breathing Techniques, Concentration Techniques and Meditation Techniques which cultivate attention, deepen focus and embrace stillness. You'll have the opportunity to practice meditation in an encouraging group setting and engage in conversation with classmates. You will also learn 'quick-fixes' to trigger the relaxation response in your brain and body. The course includes a take-home manual for future reference and suggestions on how to successfully plan your at-home meditation practice.

One Registration includes all 5 sessions and attendance at TWO regularly scheduled classes at Westport Yoga. 

In this highly acclaimed 5 week series, with Amie Rader you will learn the foundation knowledge of yoga practice and philosophy to prepare you to take yoga classes with confidence. Each class is a mix of lecture, discussion, learning and asana (poses). You will learn safe alignment for basic poses seen most often in hatha- style yoga classes and have an open, caring space to ask questions.

Each week will have a specific focus, but all classes will contain yoga poses, so please dress accordingly.

Week 1: yoga class etiquette and concerns

Week 2: breathing techniques

Week 3: yoga philosophy

Week 4: meditation and relaxation

Week 5: practice and putting it all together

We'll start with an exclusive morning meditation session to center and open our Soul Space for self-reflection and top it off with fresh pressed juice. Then, we'll participate in Westport Yoga's famed Hatha Yoga class to build heat, confidence and strength. After a few minutes to grab a snack and drink, it's back to the practice room for luxurious stretching in our Gentle Practice Class. Then, we'll cozy up with tea and blankets to savor Westport Yoga's life-affirming Restore and Meditate Practice, which is relaxation at its finest. To end the day, our group will reflect on techniques for creating Soul Space in our daily lives and learn self-massage techniques with an exclusive essential oil aromatherapy blend that you get to take home! Stress often manifests as pain in our physical body. Coupled with injuries and repetitive movements, our bodies feel fatigued and sore. In this workshop, you will learn breathing techniques, meditation mantras and therapeutic poses to relieve your pain and suffering. Poses will specialize in healing the most common painful areas: neck, spine, shoulders and hips. You’ll leave the class feeling restored and empowered to continue your self healing.

(All levels welcome. No prior Yoga experience required. Physicians approval may be required for students who recently had surgery.  Please contact Lisa if you have an acute spinal injury such as slipped disc, bulging disk and spondylolisthesis.)  Please note: there are no refunds for this workshop.
